In collaboration with Brooks Running, we were honored to shine a light on the incredible organization Students Run Philly Style and their MileUp program. MileUp works to divert Philadelphia-area youth from the criminal justice system by designing a positive path forward through running and community.

To tell this story we focused on a peer mentor named Lucas, who—as a 14-year-old—was facing jail time for a felony offense. He was able to avoid incarceration by joining MileUp and committing to a 12-week cohort, which culminated in him running a 10k race. Through running he got his life back on track, found a love of movement, and grew into a new leadership role as a peer mentor for other youth.
